Happy Friday and Happy New Year! I hope that everyone had a safe New Year’s Eve celebration. We’re finally in 2021 so it’s time to set new monthly goals! No matter how crazy everything gets, I always like to set monthly goals because I find that they help to keep me focused.
Here are my goals for January!
Complete the Peloton January Strength Challenge
I love that Peloton always has different types of monthly challenges. My goal is to do one strength class per day. I plan to mix these up between 5-30 minute classes (core, upper body, lower body and full body). You only need to complete 5 days of strength workouts to get the badge (bronze level) but I plan on going for the Gold (15+ days of strength workouts).Ckkkkkkkk
PR the 200m Benchmark Row
The last time I did this benchmark was over a year ago (August 2019) so I’m about 95% positive that I can get a PR during this benchmark. I love that OTF offers different benchmarks either once or twice a year as it’s an excellent way to see progress. I’ll tackle this on January 22nd!
Commit to daily stretching
I want to start off the year strong with this goal since it’s something that I tend to ignore. Although I know it’s super important to always warm up and cool down/stretch after a workout, I don’t do it as often as I should. My goal is that hopefully completing 31 days of stretching will help to make this a habit that I can stick with throughout the year.
That’s it for this month – wish me luck!
If you set monthly goals, what are your goals for January?
I’m linking up for Fridays with Fairytales and Fitness from Fairytales and Fitness.

My abs are needing some attention LOL They’re not pudgy (yet), but they’re feeling a bit soft. Time to get a bit more disciplined about consistent abs/core work. Your goals look great! I’m stretching more than I used to, but I know I still need to do more …
kookyrunner says
Oh my abs are a disaster area but I’ve come to terms with it, lol. I will do more core work in hopes of making it a little less “squishy”.
Coco says
I signed up for all the Peloton challenges this month, but they aren’t very challenging with my Peloton addiction. 😉 My goal is to incorporate more yoga. It’s so hard to make myself choose it, but it feels so good when I do.
Happy New Year!
kookyrunner says
Me too! I don’t think I’ll hit the gold level in cycling, but hoping to hit that level in all the other challenges this month. Peloton really knows how to keep us motivated!
Darlene S Cardillo says
No monthly goals but I signed up to run 1000 miles again in 2021.
My body does need attention but I have still not motivated to do anything about it
You are so inspiring with your dedication to OTF and Peleton. I wish it would rub off on me lol
kookyrunner says
I love your mileage goal for 2021. I have no doubt that you will crush it!
Catrina says
Your goals sound very sensible and doable, Kim!
I need to focus more on the upper body – I’ve been slacking on my pushups. I should do them as a daily habit again.
Thanks for the reminder! 🙂
kookyrunner says
Thanks Catrina! I always say I’m going to do core daily. I’m usually good with it for a few weeks and then I stop. I may be more realistic and try to pencil it in for 3-4 times a week.
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
Looks like some good goals Kim! I think I joined every challenge Peloton offered this month LOL!
I desperately need to stretch more! I always say I’m going to but it goes by the wayside fairly quickly. I’m toying with trying daily yoga for the month.
Happy New Year!
kookyrunner says
LoL! Peloton knows how to keep us on our toes. I joined all the challenges too – I was surprised they had so many this month!
Wendy says
No goals here except the same old same old. I am going to try to be better about stretching. My SI joint has been out of whack. Yoga with Adriene fixes me right up.
Sounds like you are going to have a fun month!
kookyrunner says
Yup, stretching is a big goal for me too. I’m off to a good start by stretching before and after workouts. I hope I can continue that throughout the year!
Deborah Brooks says
I signed up for all the Peloton challenges this month too. I am also trying out the meditation program and committing to daily stretches. It sure helps!
kookyrunner says
I enjoyed the meditation program – let me know how you like it!
Marcia says
All the best with those goals! There’s an ab/core challenge in the ZOOMA challenge I’m coaching so I’ll do that. I also NEED to focus on some yoga!
kookyrunner says
I know that I can’t commit to daily yoga, but I can commit to daily stretching so I’m going to start there – baby steps!
Beckett @ Birchwood Pie says
I’m right there with you on the stretching! At least I’ve been semi-consistent for a few weeks now. My goals for January are to continue the strength work that I started last month and to run a lot…but that’s a goal every month;-)
kookyrunner says
I’ve been good this week by doing a pre and post workout stretch every day so I’m hoping I can continue that throughout the year!
The Accidental Marathoner says
You always inspire me with the great goals that you set. Very challenging, but also very doable.
I definitely want to add stretching to my daily routine. I know it sounds funny, but the first thing my pup does when she wakes up every morning is take several very long stretches. I’m thinking of she’s doing it by instinct, it must be good for our health and survival!
Happy new year!
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much Linda! I always try to set ambitious goals that are also attainable. I have added pre and post stretching after my workouts this week and I’m hoping I can stick with that routine all year.
Laurie says
Great goals. They sound tough but attainable. I need to do more stretching too. Maybe I should make that one of my 2021 goals. I think my top goal this year is to run 1500 miles.
kookyrunner says
Thanks Laurie! I’m really hoping to stick to my stretching goal this year. I know it will only help me.
Good luck on your mileage goal – I’m sure you will hit 1500 miles for the year!
