Happy Friday! As usual, since it’s the last Friday of the month, I’m linking up with Marcia from Marcia’s Healthy Slice for Runfessions. Let’s get this party started!
I runfess that I’m looking forward to starting Power Zones training on Monday
I’m a little nervous to start this program, but also excited because I know that it will ensure that I get the most out of my rides on the bike. It’s a four week program so I know that I will need to be patient as I wait to see improvement in my output. I’m not the most patient person so this whole experience should be interesting 🙂
I runfess that I can’t wait for the official start of Fall
Just a few more weeks until the start of Fall! It’s my favorite season so I’m super excited for the leaves to change colors and indulge in pumpkin flavored everything. I’m not sure if apple picking will be a thing this year (probably not), but I can still indulge in apple cider donuts!
I runfess that I’m in a “food rut”
I feel like I’m currently in a food rut. Ever since the summer started I’ve pretty much cooked the same meals over and over again, especially for breakfast. I do meal prep my meals most of the time for lunch, but for breakfast I always cook it that morning. I don’t have a lot of time for cooking in the morning so I usually focus on quick and easy meals, but I’m so sick of eggs and English muffins. Please let me know if you have any cool recipes to share!
I runfess that I needed a staycation to recharge
Like many people, my job became extremely busy/stressful since moving to work from home. Because of this, I really appreciate the days off. Also, I already know that we’re going to be incredibly busy mid-September through December so it’s a good opportunity to clear my head before things get hectic. I also have more vacation time to use from now until then so I’m using this time off to figure out how I can fit that in before the end of the year.
That’s it for this month – thanks for reading my runfessions! I hope that you have a great weekend!
I’m also linking up for Fridays with Fairytales and Fitness from Fairytales and Fitness.
Do you have anything you want to runfess for August?
Darlene says
No no on Fall. Less daylight. My hikes and runs will be compromised.
Yes on the food rut. I get the same breakfast and lunch everyday.
I need a real vacation. I mean go somewhere far.
kookyrunner says
I would really love to take a real vacation and hope I can do one sometime next year.
Deborah Brooks says
I am excited about learning more about the power zones. Will be interesting to see how we both feel about it. Hope you enjoy your days off and get some more sleep. Maybe would be fun to take a zoom cooking class to inspire you. I am also a little bored of eating right now!
kookyrunner says
Ohh that’s a great idea abut a Zoom cooking class. I will look into that!
Coco says
I am so bored with dinners, but also not interested in making more effort! I’ve added mid-week take-out the past two weeks (Lebanese or Indian) and ordered extra to have leftovers. Other than that it’s oven roasted salmon, pasta, broiled tuna steaks and pizza. 😛
I will be interested to hear about PZ training!
kookyrunner says
The PZ training should be interesting! I’ll probably do a blog about it in October once I finish the program.
Cari says
Apple cider donuts forever. THat’s one thing everyone can agree on, right?
I’m with you on fall. This summer was draining for so many reasons. Lunch food rut too — this week was nice for variety (no fridge, no same thing daily), but need to improve my rota.
kookyrunner says
Totally! Those apple cider donuts never disappoint.
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
I’m right there with you on being more than ready for the Fall!
My motivation for cooking has been pretty low lately so I’m kinda in a food rut too – I tend to default to smoothies in the morning, especially if it’s hot out.
I’ll be interested to hear more about your Power Zome training.
kookyrunner says
I’m with you on the smoothies. I love them, but even I’m sick of them now lol.
I’m planning on doing a blog about PZ training in October after I finish the program.
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
I like to cook, and I’m so over cooking! I am seriously considering a meal service. Now if I can find one the two of us can agree on.
Glad your staycation helped you to recharge! my (half) day trips help me (while also tiring me out, LOL!). Gotta have something to look forward to, right?
kookyrunner says
The meal services can be so tricky. I’ve tried Hello Fresh and Blue Apron and they were both okay but I noticed that the calorie count was so high for all the meals.
Lisa @ Mile by Mile says
I love summer but I’m excited for fall too. Just not what comes after it! (And I’ll miss the morning daylight, but thats already gone!) I dont have any exciting breakfast ideas either. I eat eggs, yogurt, english muffins, or oatmeal most days.
kookyrunner says
I usually eat more oatmeal once the weather gets cooler, so that will be a change but I’m sure I’ll get sick of that too, lol.
Kimberly Hatting says
I’ll be curious to hear how the Power Zones program works for you! My biking is kind of stagnant, but I have to keep it easy for the time-being. I’m just grateful I still have it as an option 😉
kookyrunner says
I’m glad that you can still do biking to stay active while your foot heals.
Beckett @ Birchwood Pie says
Oh man I am so looking forward to fall running. Something about being in quarantine has definitely zapped my meal planning mojo. My go to breakfast used to be black bean and egg breakfast burritos that I would freeze and have ready to go.
kookyrunner says
Fall running is the best time of the year! Thanks for the breakfast idea. I haven’t done a breakfast burrito in a while so this would be a great change.
Marcia says
Glad you’re feeling recharged after your staycation! I love fall, but I don’t wanna wish summer away either. Our winters are so long and dark. The Power Zone thing sounds interesting. I did a Functional Threshold Power test when I was in triathlon training and OMG that thing was BRUTAL!!
kookyrunner says
Yeah I’m not looking forward to the FTP test at all!
Laurie says
I have to runfess, that even with the heat and humidity, I am sad to see summer go. I love how it is light at 8:00 or even 9:00 and I hate to bundle up to go outside.
Do you like avocado toast? I smash up half an avocado on toast and sprinkle on some capers, salt, and pepper. If I’m really adventurous, I’ll add chopped up tomato, onion, and even a chopped hard boiled egg sometimes.
Good luck with Power Zones!
kookyrunner says
I do hate that it gets darker so quickly in the Winter but I also love cold weather so it’s a trade off for me I guess.
I’m not a huge avocado fan – I wish that I was because there are so many variations of avocado toast!
Wendy says
I’ve been eating a lot of kale salads and power bowls. I need to share my recipes, I guess!
kookyrunner says
Yes! Please share those recipes, especially for the power bowls 🙂
Lacey@fairytalesandfitness says
I’m sad for summer to be coming to an end but it will be a nice change while running. And I love all things pumpkin spice as well.
kookyrunner says
I’ve seen so many new pumpkin spice products and can’t wait to try them out!
Liz Dexter says
Glad you’re getting some time off – I think we’re booking a week in October and most of it will involve having a rest! I have got in a food rut, too – I even find myself having the same meals on the same days of the week each week!
kookyrunner says
Same here! I find myself eating the same lunches and dinners on the same days. I really need some variety!
