Happy Friday! It’s a new month and it’s time to set new goals! No matter how crazy everything gets, I always like to set monthly goals because I find that they help to keep me focused.
First, let’s take a look at my goals from February:
Hit 4K minutes in the Peloton Annual 2021 Challenge
Grade: A
I was actually able to hit 5K minutes so I exceeded this goal – I was shocked. I have been doing more pre and post workouts stretches, meditation and yoga so I guess it’s all adding up!
Meal prep every weekend
Grade: A
I used to meal prep by meal so I would make all my individual meals. That worked for a while but then I noticed that I would get sick of the food. Last month I tried batch cooking my proteins and veggies so that I could mix and match the items throughout the week. It really worked out well and I will continue this method moving forward.
Increase my water intake
Grade: B+
I downloaded an app, Water Reminder, to help me track my water intake. It also gives me reminders every few hours to drink water which is super helpful. I hit my water goal about 80% of the month.
Here are my goals for March!
PR the Orangetheory DriTri
My studio is doing the DriTri at the end of the month and they are offering an outdoor option again (yay)! I got a nice PR the last time I did the DriTri in September so I don’t know if I can PR again, but I’m definitely going to try!
March Core with Jess
This isn’t an official Peloton program but I’m going to work my way through all of Jess Sims’ core classes this month, ranging from 5-30 minutes. She has enough classes to take me through the whole month, but will give me a break on Sundays which will be nice. I’ve taken some of the classes already so there will be repeats but that’s fine. You can never go wrong with any of the core classes!
Reduce social media time at night
I mentioned in last week’s Runfessions post that I have found myself spending way too much time mindlessly scrolling through social media apps at night. I know that part of this is because I don’t watch a lot of TV and I haven’t found anything new on Netflix that I want to watch. This month I want to find another activity to do in that ‘after dinner/before bed’ timeframe so that I can spend less screen time with my phone.
That’s it for this month – wish me luck!
If you set monthly goals, what are your goals for March?
I’m linking up with Darlene, Michelle, Renee, Jenn and Zenaida for Fit Five Friday!

The scrolling really does get mindless. I can always do with less screen time. Great month for you and all the best with that Dri Tri. Those activities are way better than a tri that includes….gulp…swimming! Haha!

Open water swimming freaks me out so I would probably never be able to do a real triathlon lol.

Batch cooking is super helpful to me too so then I can just mix things up depending on what I feel like having. I am super impressed that you already hit 4K! I have to step it up
kookyrunner says
It’s so great and I can’t believe that i didn’t try it sooner. The variety is really the best part about it.
Darlene S Cardillo says
Good for you on screen time. I’m on all day for work…at night I go for a walk and then I’ve been ready and/or knitting.
Kudos to you on all your workouts. You are amazing!!
Zilch on the H20 for me…I just can’t remember to drink lol
I’ve started making multiple meals ahead of time…that way I don’t have to cook every night.

I like how you balance the screen time. All day I look at my laptop and then I end up scrolling on my phone at night. I need to find another nighttime hobby to balance all the screen time.
I’ve been keeping my water in a huge bright orange tumbler so that mixed in the with reminders on my phone are super helpful lol.
Wendy says
I really don’t do much scrolling after dinner. It’s too distracting and my mind won’t shut down if I do.
I’d love to do that Dri-Tri!
kookyrunner says
I need to be more like you after dinner!

I sometimes catch myself scrolling too much too. I have a book that I pull out to read when I find myself doing that. Sometimes I can even find a good book about running! 🙂
Way to hit 5k minutes for March! That is amazing!!!
kookyrunner says
I’m going to see if I can commit to reading one chapter from a book a night before bed. I think that will help me cut back on my screen time.
Kimberly Hatting says
Good luck on the Dri Tri! I’ve been watching so much basketball…that’s cut down on my evening scroll time. I’m looking forward to more evening daylight, so the hubs & I can do more walking (and riding, when it’s a bit warmer).
kookyrunner says
I’m so looking forward to doing more walking in the upcoming months!
Michelle D. says
Congrats on hitting 5K already!
I scroll way too much in the evenings so I’m right there with you on the need to cut down. That DriTri sounds like a lot of fun – good luck with it!
kookyrunner says
Thanks! I’m looking forward to the DriTri because it’s always a bunch of fun.

I was really focused on drinking water in January, then I got sick of it. I am making more of an effort than I was before, though. 5000 Peloton min already?! Wow! And all those OTF classes too. You are in beast mode!
kookyrunner says
It’s easy for me to slack on my water intake during the Winter – I guess because I don’t sweat as much in the winter.
Cari says
I got a Zaki for Christmas and it’s a huge help because it keeps the water cold. I will not drink room temperature water. (Hey, we all need our Princess things :D, if that’s mine I’ll live)
Way to go on 5K minutes! I’m at 2100 which is way more than I’d have guessed, so I’m happy
Very curious what meal planning looks like for me when I’m back in the office. I’m sort of doing it now in a grocery shop, but I cook the lunches just before so not exactly. Also curious what office lunch will look like.
Good luck with the Dri Tri.
kookyrunner says
I’m the same way – I much prefer ice cold water vs room temperature water.
Thanks! I was surprised to get 5K minutes so far, but I forgot that all of the stretches, warm up/cool downs and meditations add up.
Renée @runlaugheatpie says
personally I’d say you smashed your Feb goals! Well done!
and March looks reasonable – I’m also guilty of the scrolling and want to cut that down as well. it’s such a bad habit to be honest! My biggest issue is that most people I “know” are online during my evening hours… but still that just means I can catch up the next day.
kookyrunner says
Thanks Renee! The scrolling is one of my bad habits that I’m hoping to break this year. It got worse last year since we were home so much.
Zenaida Arroyo says
I am also bad about scrolling on my phone. After a while I do get sleepy so in a way it might be good. :-). We are in March and you already hit 5K minutes in the Peloton app! Awesome, girl!
kookyrunner says
I’ve definitely fell asleep while scrolling through Instagram lol
Jenn says
Rockstar!
I have been doing so much better with hydration, but ugh. Water. I hate drinking it.
Congratulations on crushing so many goals. You are so dedicated!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Jenn! Water can get pretty boring but I find that I can drink more of it when it’s ice cold. I’m not a huge fan of room temperature water.
