Happy Friday! It’s a new month and it’s time to set new goals! No matter how crazy everything gets, I always like to set monthly goals because I find that they help to keep me focused. I missed posting my April goals, but I’m back on track this month.
These were my goals for March:
PR the Orangetheory Fitness DriTri
Grade: C
I was about 1 minute away from a PR, but still completed the event so I’m going to give myself a C. I’ll try again for a PR in September.
Try something new
Grade: F
March was a pretty insane month so I didn’t really have any free time, let alone free time to try something new. I’ll try this goal again another month 🙂
Here are my goals for May:
Complete all the Peloton Rock 22 Classes
Last month Peloton launched their Rock 22 Challenge. They dropped 100+ classes in the Rock 22 Challenge collection. I feel like I’m so behind since I could only do walk and upper body classes, but now that I’m back to doing running and cycle classes, I think I should be able to complete all the classes in the collection this week.
Take intentional work breaks
It’s no secret that work has been pretty insane the past few months. I would say we’ve been working at max capacity for the past 6 months. We’re only a team of 5 so it’s been a lot. My manager actually challenged us to take 30 minutes during each workday to step away from our laptops and I really like this idea. So I’m committed to doing this in May. I plan on doing treadmill walks or outdoor walks, running an errand to the store, grabbing lunch from a local restaurant, or even just sitting with a cup of tea and reading a magazine.
If you set monthly goals, what are your goals for May?
I’m linking up with Darlene, Michelle, Renee, Jenn and Zenaida for Fit Five Friday!

Wait, doesn’t that whole egg retrieval process count as something new? It sure was a big thing to do!
I have been loving the Rock22 classes. I guess I didn’t realize how much I enjoy working out to rock.
OH, I am SO BAD about taking breaks from work. I tend to sit for HOURS without moving. I’ve tried to break that habit, but I’m so focused on getting something done. I heard an idea of making sure you take a break between conference calls — that would be one cue I could try to follow — instead of trying to answer an email or two in those 5 min gaps.
kookyrunner says
Ha! You know what – you’re absolutely right, lol. Can’t believe I didn’t put that in the “try something new” category.
Same for me with the Rock 22 classes! Overall, I have enjoyed many of the ones I have done so far.
A break between conference calls is a good idea. At my job we’ve been shortening 30 minute meetings to 25 minutes, that way you get 5 minutes in between calls to grab something to drink, use the bathroom, etc.

I can sit for hours and hours at my desk without a break so I love that your manager encourages you to take breaks. It’s so important!
kookyrunner says
Same! And I can also forget about eating lunch too. I’m really trying to break those bad habits.
Darlene Cardillo says
I hear you on work breaks… sometimes I barely move from my computer from 8-4. I used to be really good about going on bike rides or walks/hikes during lunch… that has stopped.
Once my gym membership i have to decide what to do… we;ll see.
No goals for each month.
I just try to be active every day… that means running 4x a week (and often a race or long run included). If I don’t run, I try to workout and walk/hike. Those non-running days I call rest days.
And of course egg retrieval is something new so an A and even trying a dry tri gives you a B.
Hope May goes well for you.

I love that your manager is encouraging you to step way. It’s hard to do sometimes. It sounds like you might need to grow your team a little!
Giving yourself shots for the egg retrieval should definitely count as something new and brave!

I LOVE that your manager actually encourages breaks! That’s awesome.
I think you did better with your goals than you think — it’s not always about attaining them, but sometimes it’s just about seeing if they will fit into this month (week, day). Clearly some just didn’t in April. May is a new month!

Oh, I also want to take classes from Rock22 collection. Great goal!
kookyrunner says
Thanks! I have really enjoyed all of the Rock 22 classes I’ve taken so far.

I’m loving the Rock 22 classes!!! My friend, Michele, and I have been pretty diligent about taking walk breaks at work…we try to get in two 15-minute walk breaks each day, weather permitting, which amounts to a mile each time we walk. That quick fresh air fix does wonders! If you want a mini chat, on one of your breaks, give me a heads-up 😉
kookyrunner says
I love that you talk walk breaks at work – so important to get up and get moving during the day.
And yes, we will need to bring back the walk and chat this summer 🙂
Michelle says
One of the promises I made to myself when I started the new job was to take at least a half hour break from my laptop during the workday – I’ve been sticking to it and it really helps, and most of the time I try to make it a walk outside. I think it’s great that your manager is challenging your team to do that!
I hope things settle down for you a bit this month!
kookyrunner says
I love that you set that goal – I think I’m going to set a similar goal after this month is over. Also I’ve noticed my back hurts more when I sit so long at my desk all day so that is reason enough for me to get up and get moving during the workday!
Zenaida Arroyo says
There are that many classes in the Rock 22 Collection? Wow! I think I took one (?) of the running classes but that’s it. Love that you always go for the challenges!
kookyrunner says
Yup, there are 100+ which is crazy, but at least they provided a bunch of variety, lol.
Jenn says
You still had a great month! I’m so proud of you! You’re going to really rock May!
kookyrunner says
Thanks so much Jenn!
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
How cool that your manager challenged you and your team to take a 30-minute break during the day. I hope you’ll be able to find the time to do it and step away from your desk. That mental break from work and physical break from sitting will do you wonders.
kookyrunner says
I will definitely find the time to do it, and will probably keep this going after May. This little breaks during the work day can make such a difference!
Cari says
The work breaks are so necessary. As much for the screen as anything else. At first I found WFH hard since everything is right here and I couldn’t linger in the kitchen or anything, but come to love the small errands like dropping off laundry
kookyrunner says
Very true, I think doing a load of laundry or even running to the grocery store to pick up a few things would be a good break in the workday.
