Happy Tuesday! It’s time for another edition of Tuesday Topics. This week’s Tuesday Topic: What’s on your Summer bucket list?. Remember to link-up with Kim and Zenaida and the bottom of this post.
Although we’re still in Spring (Summer “officially” starts on June 21), the temps are heating up outside so it certainly feels like Summer is right around the corner. Unlike the past 2 years, I feel like there’s more opportunity to get out and explore things this Summer.
See my friends
My three very close friends (we have been friends for 20 years) live in different parts of the county – Ohio, Washington and North Carolina. I saw my friend that lives in Washington last Summer and that was great, but haven’t seen my other two friends since 2019. My friend that lives in Ohio is coming to Boston for work in 2 weeks and I’m going to go there for two days to see her. My friend form Washington will be in New York for a month in August so I’m going to carve out time to see her when she is there. I’m still working on seeing my friend that lives in North Carolina, but I’m sure we will figure out something!
Complete a few Peloton badge series
This is a goal, but also a bucket list item as well because it would make me happy to complete it, lol. This Summer I am going to aim to get through all the Pride 2022, Homecoming 2021 and Homecoming 2022 classes. Sometimes it’s hard to balance Peloton and OTF, but I’m pretty sure I can cross this bucket list item off my list.
Take advantage of Stamford events
My city always has a ton of things going on in the Summer, but I don’t take advantage of many of them. I recently followed an Instagram account for Stamford events so I can stay in the know about all the happenings this Summer and I plan on getting out more often. I guess I’ll sort of be acting as a tourist in my own city, lol.

YOU have an exciting summer on tap! It’ll be nice to take advantage now that Covid isn’t as much of a hindrance as it’s been the last couple of years. How big is Stamford? It has to be bigger than my Iowa locale…I usually have to venture to a bigger city (Iowa City of Des Moines) to find much of my entertainment. Good luck with all those Peloton badges!!

Thanks! I’m hoping for a bit more fun this summer since I haven’t done much the past few summers. Stamford is one of the biggest cities in Connecticut and I think we have around 100,000 residents, so there’s a lot to do here.

It’s hard when your friends don’t live near you! So nice that you get to see the ones from Washington and Ohio. I hope you can figure out something for the North Carolina friend!
Do the three friends know each other or do you know them all separately? If you all know each other, I’m sure you must have some fun Zoom calls!
My summer bucket list has a triathlon, a trail race in the mountains and the Berlin marathon on it. 🙂
kookyrunner says
It’s so hard, but I am thankful for the opportunity to see them when I can. Yup, we all know each other (we all went to the same college for undergrad) so we have very hilarious group chats and zoom calls that usually end in bouts of laughter which is always much appreciated!

So fun to connect with friends.
I was trying of thinking a place to meet up midway between you me and Cari. Walkway bridge in Poughkeepsie is about 90 min away.
We have so many local events that I ignore. Sometimes it seems that I work and run. Thanks for the reminder.
Any racing plans?
kookyrunner says
No racing plans this Summer but I am happy to see more local races coming back.

How wonderful to have the opportunity to see your friends! I am sure you will have a blast. And being a tourist in your own city can be great fun, too! there’s always something new to discover.
Have a great Summer, Kim!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Judy – it will be nice to see them and I’m very much looking foreward to it!

So happy you’ll be able to see your friends soon! There’s nothing like having old friends who have been on this journey of life with you. Being a tourist in your own city is actually really fun – it gives you a whole new perspective!
kookyrunner says
Totally agree – nothing like getting together with good friends!
Virjinia @ With Purpose and Kindness says
I hope you’re able to reconnect with all of your friends and enjoy the time together! That’s one of the best parts of summer, the flexibility to reach out and see others! Good luck on the Peloton badge hunt! Also, I think being a tourist in your own city can be so fun!
kookyrunner says
So true – And I have a good amount of PTO so I can take long weekends here and there too.
Jenny says
I better get started on my summer bucket list! I haven’t really thought about it (although I agree it feels like summer has definitely started.)
Your summer sounds fun- I’m not surprised about the Peloton goals, and seeing friends is a great goal to have. Acting as a tourist in your own city is a fun thing to do, and I’ll be interested to hear what types of events you attend!
kookyrunner says
I feel like Summer always creeps up so quickly, especially because end up Spring/early Summer seems to be so busy for everyone!
Deborah Brooks says
I do love to rack up new badges as well. Hope you get to see your friends this summer!
kookyrunner says
Thanks Deborah! Hoping for a little more fun this summer.
Zenaida Arroyo says
You have great plans for this Summer! I also would love to do more things in the city but teenagers are being stupid and ruining it for others.
kookyrunner says
That’s such a shame 🙁 Kids here for the most part are okay but there are occasional stories of craziness.
Cari says
This post inspired me to get my bucket list done. Now whether or not it gets posted…
If your friend visiting NY is near the city and you’re down here, give a yell. Or we’ll have to make a fall bucket list.
kookyrunner says
Absolutely! All I know so far is that she will be in NY in August but once I have more details I can let you know!
