Happy Tuesday! It’s time for another edition of Tuesday Topics. This week’s Tuesday Topic: What did you think about on your last run? You can write about this or any running related blog post. Remember to link-up with Kim and Zenaida and the bottom of this post!
I often have the most random thoughts while on the run. These days most of my runs are from the Peloton app so I always have one of the instructors speaking in my ear. Sometimes I zone out for a little bit and that’s when all the random thoughts pop up. Here are some of my thoughts from my runs over the past few days.
I wonder when I’ll get back the draft for the report?
There’s a report that my group puts out in April/May every year and this is around the time where everything gets really hectic so the report is on my mind way more than I would like.
What should I eat for dinner tonight?
Let’s be honest, I have this thought everyday, even when I’m not running, lol.
I really should do longer runs at some point.
Yeah..so I really need to throw in a “longer” run at some point. I’ve been cruising with 1-4 mile runs during the week and my last run over 6 miles was in December – whoops!
I can’t believe I forgot my water bottle.
Ugh! I left my water bottle in the kitchen and didn’t realize until I had already started my run. It was only a 30 minute run so I just decided to suck it up and finish.
Tell me: What were your thoughts on your last run?

Last week was the last of a 4 month training cycle (that didn’t end with a race as I deferred it). So my thoughts on my runs during that week were: I can’t believe all this training won’t end with a medal/ I’m so happy to be done with this training/ I really can’t wait to take things easier/ I can’t wait for shorter runs/ And yes – what should we have for dinner!

That’s a bummer about the race 🙁 This training cycle may not have ended with a medal but I can guarantee that it will help when you start training for the race again next year. You’ve also built up mental toughness which is half the battle!

This was a great topic for a blog post LOL My thoughts are all over the map when I’m running, which is just as much a curse as it is a blessing. The thing is, by the time I return to my driveway, I’m often struggling to remember WHAT occupied my brain for the entire time I was running…
kookyrunner says
That’s happened to me before too. The best is when I have this great idea while out on a run and then I can’t remember it once I get home.

Running + thoughts about food go together like chocolate & peanut butter. 🙂
I don’t think I’ve really thought that I should be running longer & I have no clue when my last 6 mile run was — probably just as long. Kim, you are plenty active so if you’re happy, I say you’re good!
kookyrunner says
Definitely! I would always think about breakfast/brunch during my morning long runs on the weekends, lol.
Darlene says
It’s crazy about our thoughts during our runs.
Mine are often about food but mostly when can I quit. Lol
kookyrunner says
Sometimes I think about when I can quit too, lol

Oh my, that thought about the draft report just made my blood freeze in my veins!
I used to work in an audit department and I often had to write an audit report. The draft would go through at least 10 review cycles and several hierarchies, right up to the department head.
I used to fear the moment when the draft version came back.
Aren’t we glad that running helps us to get through all that nerve-wracking anxiety!
kookyrunner says
Same here! I never know what to expect after several eyes and edits have been made to the report!
Denise says
I too am usually planning dinner and the rest of my day when I run.
kookyrunner says
I’m glad that I’m not the only one that thinks about food while on the run!
Jenn says
I am always thinking about food. And I have been HUNGRY on my runs, too. Like stomach growling, and all that! It’s super annoying.
kookyrunner says
That’s hard when that happens, especially when you can hear your stomach growling!
Deborah Brooks says
well, I am always thinking about what I am going to eat! I also make up stories about people I see out on a run
kookyrunner says
Haha that’s a good one!
Marcia says
I thought about the lack of a water bottle every single day in Florida. I still can’t believe I forgot to bring one. Thank heavens I’m not training for anything that requires longer runs. I’d have had to buy one.
kookyrunner says
I’m glad you were able to survive down there without a water bottle. I know the humidity there is rough!
Michelle D. says
Food is high on my list of thoughts when I’m out running LOL! Of late, I’ve just been trying to zone out and decompress from crazy workdays.
kookyrunner says
Same here. Work has been really stressful but sometimes I even think about it on my runs which is really not good.
Zenaida Arroyo says
Love reading about everything thoughts! So many fun and different ones! Haha, yes, food!
kookyrunner says
Food is my forever thought lol
Cari says
My thoughts are all over the place and it depends where I’m running. If on the East River it’s usually trying to see whether they’re installing a new exhibit at Socrates. In Central Park especially during February’s nonstop snow it was ab out the latest snow art and what I might see. Also whether the water ways would be frozen. Also, always food.
kookyrunner says
Food seems to be the one constant for everyone, lol.
